eingestreut (27): record store day

Chuck Berry: "Music is an important part of our culture and record stores play a vital part in keeping the power of music alive"

heute ist der sogenannte record store day. initiierung und idee: "The original idea for Record Store Day was conceived by Chris Brown, and was founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally." so kann man auf der offziellen record store day homepage lesen. dieser tag gilt dem kleinen plattenladen, der vor dem aussterben bedroht ist. dieser tag ruft alle dazu auf, das kleinod 'plattenladen' als solches wahrzunehmen und zu unterstützen. die gefahr, dass geschäfte, die sich nur mit dem verkauf von vinyl oder cds über wasser halten wollen, pleite gehen, ist größer denn je.

Emily King: "The independent retailers have really been an anchor for the presence of music in our communities and a huge support for our musicians. They're irreplaceable."

Pete Yorn: "I've always enjoyed the record shops...they gave me a reason to leave my house."

Colin Meloy: "I don't know what I would do without indie record stores. Having grown up in a town without them, I can tell you that it's no fun to shop for indie records at chain box stores. Independent record stores like Sonic Boom in Seattle, Rockin Rudys in Missoula and 2nd Avenue in Portland were holy golden shrines to me growing up. Actually, they still are."
