neue töne (336): the beap seals

nachdem zwei singles auf den weg gebracht wurden, steht nun mit "things that roar" der erste longplayer der band the beap seals ins haus. das ganze ist auf heron recordings zu beobachten, die auch für die hevorragenden jennifer gentle, the see see und einige andere bands mehr verantwortlich zeichnen.
mit norman blake fand sich ein versierter produzent. wem der name geläufig ist, der kann ihn alsbald dem teenage fanclub zuordnen. der waschzettel der plattenfirma schreibt zum album und dessen psychedelisch-poppigen ausrichtung, "bolstered by sun-dappled harmonies and the odd stoner-rock guitar freakout. "
With tunes that evoke the 1960s West Coast sound they travel through the mantra-vocalled Biting Glass to the handclapping down-home stomp of Such A Bloody Pain via the feel-good kaleidoscopic pop of Tell Your Friends. A fabulous debut." und vergab 9/10.
Philip Anderson - instruments with keyboards and vocals
Jack O Cooper - guitar, songs and vocals
Ian Hinton-Smith - guitar, songs and vocals
Sam Morris - bass guitar and vocals
Jay Sikora - drums, effects and vocals
the beap seals - sampler (5track, gibt es hier als komplettdownload . zip)
das album, randnotiz, soll die früchte eines jahres musikhören darstellen. dabei liefen auf den plattentellern der jungs u.a. faust und the zombies, außerdem das musical "the wizard of oz", begleitet von obskurem brasilianischen fernsehprogramm. na denn.
